State of Affairs : What will I do without Scot Key?
Published on Fri Feb 8, 2008 12:40 am

Michael Morris – In Focus

Today has been truly astounding. Some of you may know that Deputy DA Dave Ceballes announced yesterday at the monthly meeting of the Republican Women of Otero County that he is indeed running for DA. What this means, unless we are in the middle of some childish mis-direction, is that Ceballes’ mentor Scot Key is not seeking another term. This realization is not mine, but rather the axiomatic belief of every one of my readers, contributors and critics alike who have taken the time to call or write me today asking, quite mockingly, what I will do without Key to beat on. Since I have apparently allowed myself to be type cast in the eyes of some newer readers it is incumbent upon me to clear up the work ahead.

State of Affairs : Griggs Campaign expecting boost as City declares $2 million shortfall
Published on Wed Jan 30, 2008 4:40 pm

Michael Morris – In Focus

The candidate who so boldly proclaimed himself the best possible candidate for City Commission in District 7 is either a pathological liar or is handing down an astounding indictment of the golf course area in which Ron Griggs finds his base of support. Ron Griggs has a big mouth. Ron Griggs has a small mind. Incumbent Ron Griggs has some splaining to do regarding City Manager Pat McCourt’s comments last evening declaring a near emergency requiring draconian spending cuts called necessary in the wake of a projected $1.5 million to $2 million shortfall in the FY 2009 budget. This austerity plan is not quite the kind of economic reform most had envisioned.

State of Affairs : Is Scot Key running for DA?
Published on Fri Jan 25, 2008 4:50 pm

Michael Morris – In Focus

Editor’s Note – By popular demand I will do my best to do as so many of you have requested – ignore the ADN like you.

One has to wonder why it is 12th Judicial District Attorney Scot D. Key has been so noticeably absent from Republican events during the first challenge for the DA’s Office in 12 years. As amazing as it may seem it is possible that Key is simply assuming the job is his for life. Alternatively it is more likely that Key is weighing the value of the job in light of the magnitude of the challenge of running on his record. Either way Republicans are noticing Scot Key is not even acting like a party member much less an elected official from the party up for re-election.

State of Affairs : Child Abuse Conviction a rallying cry
Published on Thu Jan 24, 2008 8:40 am

Michael Morris – In Focus

Today the Alamogordo Daily News reported child abuse convictions (ADN Story) resulting from a 2-10-06 incident that became the subject of heated accusations by Sheriff’s deputies against CYFD in the form of an article, reprinted in large part from the original Michael Shinabery bobber, in the ADN today. The problem all along was that the child was returned to the now convicted parents because the deputies hurling the allegations were never taught how to do their job. The comments they made show how they saw the situation. When I covered this alarming spectacle originally (Original 2006 Story) I simply overlayed the law on top of their statements. That story was mainly an education piece on the law more expansively and why the ADN is a rag. Today, just a quick version and some revisions now that we are lawfully sure the child went back to bone breakingly abusive parents.

Reality Check : Anderslander or Libelson?

Anderslander or Libelson?
Racquel Morris – Reality Check

Whether you want to call it Anderslander or Tales from Libelson when reading anything the Alamogordo Daily News “reporter” Lord Karl Anderson writes the most important thing to remember is to question everything this guy puts on paper. When reading any reporter’s writing especially this one’s, the most important question is what questions were actually asked in the interview. Were the questions misleading in order to get the answers the reporter was trying to illicit or was he trying to actually get to the facts of the matter he was investigating and was too incompetent to report accurately?

State of Affairs : Retail and Restaurants here? Fact and myth
Published on Tue Jan 8, 2008 5:00 pm

Michael Morris – In Focus

One topic that has returned recently to the public spotlight in Alamogordo is the lack of variety in shopping and dining. The problem is that its return is also, once again, accompanied by myths, rumors and outright lies. So twisted and convoluted are some of these rumors that it is difficult to get at the truth of the matter. That truth is that the elected and many more not elected powers in this town want anything but a change in the status quo. From holding up building permits to phonied up traffic studies it is clear that we the people don’t even have a seat at the table when the anti-business defacto rules are emplaced. All we get are lies intended to convince the people that Alamogordo is just plain unattractive to new business.

State of Affairs : Innovative business at GCRMC
Published on Fri Jan 4, 2008 11:00 pm

Michael Morris – In Focus

I have a difficult time understanding why it is my friends are surprised when I show them documents indicating that yet another money funnel non-profit around here is engaging in practices common sense indicates are shady. GCRMC is no exception to this surprise syndrome though I have no logical explanation for it. Not surprisingly the latest tale of woe here also includes a carpetbagging “Management Company” that is beginning to look like Chris and Dave Roberts in business suits. Decide for yourself if this is the kind of tax subsidized hospital this community needs.

Tales from Gobbler's Knob : Henry Morgan Smith – The rest of the story
Published on Sun Dec 30, 2007 1:40 pm

Michael Morris – In Focus

Today Alamogordo Dilly News staff imbecile Lord Karl Anderson treated us to another adventure from Henry Morgan Smith’s fantasy island. You may remember Smith as the ridiculous fellow who incited a veritable siege inside the Alamorosa truck stop when Otero County deputies arrived to cite him for violations of the smoking prohibition law. As much as I hate laws like this one I hate more a deranged inaccurate press foisting upon us the ravings of a documented madman with no clue whatsoever of any principle of law except for getting you to pay for his theft of court time and money by way of FREE process and anything else he can get for FREE. Your FREE taxes at work. Below I will link to the incident reports obtained from OCSD regarding the case.

State of Affairs : Sandra Grisham features prominently as Video Game Monster Maker suit is tossed
Published on Wed Dec 19, 2007 5:30 pm

Michael Morris – In Focus

If what is found @ Game Politics is true the citizens of the 12th Judicial District have once again been reminded of the kind of unethical illegal racket that passes for a District Attorney’s office. According to the article written, it says, by an eye witness to part of the proceedings, furiosus at law Jack Thompson, during what seems to be evidence of dementia (motions hearing), once again indicted Sandra Grisham for her role in procuring Thompson’s specious services for one of her witnesses. I explained the law on this (HERE).
