Michael Morris - In Focus
It seems as if asking the federal government to dictate the ballot in local elections is becoming an acceptable and even respected practice. Weak men and women, under the auspices of the Hatch Act, are often able to get the feds to do for them what their accomplishments will not - get them elected. It seems like I have to write about this every election. Locally the latest incarnation of Hatch Act politics happened last election when Lincoln County Undersheriff, now Sheriff, Rick Virden was assaulted by the election tamperers. For those who have forgotten how this went down here is a link to my coverage of the event (Story link). This time around I think a "just say no" campaign is in order.
