MIAMI, July 23 (Our Florida Times) — Burger King is trying to make its most famous sandwich and its service model feel more dependable.
The company said it is adding two customer-service changes: a new restaurant manager role called the Your Way Champion and a Whopper Guarantee for orders that do not meet a customer’s expectations. Burger King said both changes grew out of customer feedback gathered earlier this year through phone calls and text messages.
The announcement came from Burger King’s corporate team in Miami, giving Florida the home-base connection for a change that is meant to reach the whole chain. The sources do not name a specific Florida restaurant that is testing the program.
What is the Your Way Champion?
Burger King describes the Your Way Champion as a reimagined restaurant manager role. The company says the person in that role will be a point person for guests, with a focus on hospitality, customization, and making sure orders are right.
Burger King also said the role will have its own uniform. What the company has not said is whether every Burger King restaurant will get one, or whether the role will be limited to certain locations.
Why is Burger King making this change?
Burger King says it opened phone lines and invited customers to share honest feedback earlier in the year. In a statement, the company said the response included thousands of calls and text messages.
Tom Curtis, president of Burger King US and Canada, has also said he took part in the outreach. In a CNBC interview in May, Curtis said he personally answered 1,800 customer calls and that Burger King had received more than 70,000 incoming communications. He said the feedback helped guide changes to the Whopper and other menu work.
What is the Whopper Guarantee?
The Whopper Guarantee is Burger King’s promise to remake a Whopper right away if it does not meet expectations. The company also says the guest’s next Whopper will be free, with redemption handled through a QR code.
Burger King has not spelled out every detail of that process, including whether there are time limits or other restrictions.
How did the Whopper itself change earlier this year?
The guarantee follows an earlier update to the sandwich. In February, Burger King announced Whopper changes that included a more upscale glazed bun, creamier mayonnaise, and box or clamshell packaging instead of paper.
The company said those updates were the first major changes to the iconic sandwich in nearly 10 years. Burger King also said the Whopper remains more than a quarter-pound of 100% flame-grilled beef.
Burger King and Restaurant Brands International CEO Joshua Kobza said on an earnings call that the redesigned sandwich was drawing positive guest feedback and producing the highest average unit volumes for the Whopper in more than three years.
What does this mean for customers?
In plain terms, Burger King is trying to answer two complaints at once: order accuracy and sandwich quality. The Your Way Champion is meant to give guests one clear person to deal with in the restaurant. The Whopper Guarantee is meant to give customers more confidence that a bad sandwich will be fixed quickly.
The company is also trying to link the changes to its long-running “Have It Your Way” message. Burger King said the goal is to put that promise into practice in everyday restaurant service.
For Florida diners, the biggest immediate detail is that the company’s official announcement came from Miami. But the changes appear to be chainwide, not tied to one local Burger King. The broader test will be whether the new role and the guarantee make the brand feel more consistent from one visit to the next.
