NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic Corporation of North America is recalling about 11,480 electric toaster ovens in the U.S. and 2,184 in Canada after federal safety regulators said a cord insulation problem could create shock and fire hazards for shoppers who bought the model online.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 toaster ovens, stainless steel units with the temperature knob on the bottom and the Panasonic name on the front. The agency said the ovens were sold online at Amazon.com, Costco.com, Panasonic.com and other platforms nationwide from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170.
According to the CPSC, the power cord insulation may be insufficient because a protective fiberglass sleeve may not fully cover it. The agency said there have been four reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working, but no fires or injuries have been reported.
Panasonic’s Costco member letter said Costco records show some members bought Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026. The company told customers to stop using the product immediately and said they could return it to Panasonic for a refund or take it to a Costco Warehouse Customer Service Window for a full refund.
